ghOSt: Fast & Flexible User-Space Delegation of Linux Scheduling
Hello new and old subscribers!
This week’s paper, ghOSt: Fast & Flexible User-Space Delegation of Linux Scheduling, describes a system for implementing Linux scheduling in user-space.
Custom schedulers can achieve dramatic performance improvements for workloads running at scale. Unfortunately, they can be difficult to implement, deploy, and maintain.
ghOSt aims to address the problems faced by custom schedulers and those who implement them, while facilitating the dramatic performance and scalability gains workload-specific schedulers allow.
Until next time!
Micah
