Seven years in the life of Hypergiants' off-nets
Hello new and old subscribers!
This week’s paper is Seven years in the life of Hypergiants’ off-nets.
Many large tech organizations (called hypergiants) serve multimedia content to users all around the world. Serving this content with low latency poses difficult technical challenges - one solution is placing servers close to users in off-nets.
The off-net deployment pattern could impact internet structure and routing, but hypergiant off-nets were not comprehensively understood - the authors of the paper fill this gap by developing a technique for detecting and quantifying their usage.
Until next time,
Micah
